Exam Preparation

Tis the season of warm weather, swimming pools opening....and exams. I know that personally however, that exams mean that I am days away from being out of school and if that doesn't motivate you then I don't know what else will. My first exams isn't until May 29th but there is no such thing as over preparing for things like exams. So today I will be sharing my top seven tips for how to prepare for exams!!

  1. Check your exam schedule: Before you go into exams know which exams you have on certain days and make sure you know what class rooms you will be taking you exam in so you avoid running around your school looking for your classroom.
  2. Focus on 3: For me personally I can think of three exams that will be the ones that I need to study more for than my other exams. Because of that I tend to make sure that I study for those more than my other exams making sure that I can get the best grades possible on my exams.
  3. FLASHCARDS: I can truthfully say that come exam time I go through around 500 flashcards. Especially for foreign languages. I will simply write the Spanish word on one side and the English form on the other side. This helps me a lot because I can mix up the words for different chapters and make sure that I actually can memorize them.
  4. Healthy Snacks: During exam week last year I learned that stress eating is a real thing. Stop grabbing the chips and instead grab some fruit like blueberries! Did you know that eating blueberries actually helps to increase your brain power?! Yeah talk about food for thought...*haha I am funny* Some other healthy snack options that also increase brain power are: avocado, broccoli, nuts, chia seeds, and even dark chocolate!
  5. Study and take breaks: It is so much easier to study for a little and then relieve yourself because you are able to re-focus yourself because I know that if I do something for a long time I can start to get distracted so by taking a break you are allowing your brain a nice little break so it can take in all the information
  6.  Music: Music personally is a huge part of my life and even when I study I like to have some sort of music playing. IF you have a Spotify you can search study playlists and you can find lots of music that has no words and is very calming and quiet.
  7. Give yourself a quiet workspace: In my house it is almost always loud so a lot of times I will drive to my local Starbucks or even a Panera and buckle down and study....another bonus is that you can get a yummy drink/snack depending on where you are!! Just wherever you are just make sure its quiet and you will be able to get work done!
I think that is it for right now! If you think of anything else leave it in the comments below! Happy Friday and good luck studying!
